Why MBA Graduates Make Exceptional Business Leaders

helping your franchise grow

In today’s competitive job market, MBA graduates bring a distinct set of skills and expertise that sets them apart. Their education equips them with training in management, finance, and strategy, but most importantly, it develops leadership qualities that enable them to drive companies toward success.

Recent data from LinkedIn’s Top MBA Programs 2024 shows the continued demand for MBA graduates in leadership roles. From 2010 to 2023, the number of senior leaders hired with an MBA rose by 25%. During the same period, the percentage of entrepreneurs holding an MBA grew by 45%. This shows that an increasing number of MBA graduates are choosing to own businesses, making them a strong fit for franchise ownership as well.

How Valuable is Having an MBA?

MBA for franchise growth

According to the 2024 GMAC Corporate Recruiters Survey, employers ranked problem-solving, communication, and strategic thinking as the top three skills for MBA graduates. In addition to these core skills, MBA holders demonstrate a higher capability in strategic management, financial acumen, and adaptability—key elements that are crucial for entrepreneurship and franchise ownership.

In addition to their leadership abilities, MBA graduates often command significantly higher starting salaries than their bachelor’s counterparts, reflecting the increased value employers place on their education. The average salary for MBA graduates is roughly 1.75 times higher than bachelor’s degree holders.

The Shift Toward Entrepreneurship in a Challenging Job Market

ree

As the U.S. labor market continues to show signs of strain, many professionals are reconsidering their career paths. The latest jobs report for August 2024 showed that only 142,000 new jobs were added, which fell short of expectations and signals a slowdown in hiring. While sectors like construction and healthcare saw some gains, manufacturing lost 24,000 jobs, reflecting challenges in certain industries. The unemployment rate remained relatively steady at 4.2%, but this was higher than last year (3.8%). Additionally, layoffs have been increasing, with a rise in part-time employment as more workers struggle to secure full-time positions.

Given this uncertainty, many professionals—especially MBA graduates—are looking for more stable and independent career options. In times of economic uncertainty, owning a franchise can provide a more predictable and secure environment for growth and success.
